Abstract
To know effects of non-irrigation and pruning during summer dormancy (Jul. 1 - Aug. 25) on yield and quality of cut rose in autumn and winter harvest, the rose cv. ¢¥Mary Devor¢¥ and ¢¥Aalsmeer Gold¢¥ were examed during two years from 1995. Total yield of cut flowers was 27.0 flowers/plant in continuous irrigation (control), but the yield increased by 12.6 - 14.4% in the 4 week non-irrigation and the 8 week non-irrigation. And also, the yield of high-quality product increased by 24 - 28% in non-irrigation treatments during 4, 8 weeks, by comparison with 12.7 flowers/plant, control plot. On the yields by the pruning methods, total yield of cut flowers increased by 33% for cutting back pruning + 2 time pinching, 25% for bending pruning, compared with 24.5 flowers/plant for cutting back pruning (control). And the yield of high-quality product of control was 10.8 flowers/plant but the yield increased by 53% for cutting back pruning + 2 time pinching, 69% for bending pruning. The blind occurrence rate was reduced as the non-irrigation period was long and as the pinching frequency was high. And also the rate was low at the bending pruning.
